The Venezuelan president told European leaders to concern themselves about their own human rights violations. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro lectured European leaders on Thursday for their political inadequacy in fighting poverty and welcoming African migrants attempting to reach Europe. Maduro’s speech was specifically addressed to Martin Schulz, president of the European Parliament, who had criticized Venezuela for allegedly violating human rights.

The head of the Latin America and the Caribbean Department said he was "proud that in Venezuela the history of our people is remembered, and that from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussions are opened on the history of Latin America and the Caribbean and what has meant the presence of the government of the United States in our nations."

The Bank of the South, a monetary fund and lending institution originally established by Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Ecuador, Bolivia and Venezuela, will begin operations in May, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said late Tuesday.
