(Caracas, April 29. AVN) .- The National System of Youth and Children Orchestras of Venezuela (El Sistema) train new generations not only musically but also socially, said Tuesday the director of the Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra, Gustavo Dudamel, while closing the concert he conducted on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the founding of the city of Cumana, capital of Sucre State.
"There was not simply a concert, but also a gathering of the youth and children of this wonderful state. A historic day in which we have seen the musical and social advances of the National System of Youth and Children Orchestras of Venezuela, feel and continue motivating these children that dream, rather than just being musicians, become better citizens, with art as a way of life, as the essence of their soul", he said in a conversation with President Nicolas Maduro, during his program In Touch with Maduro.
Dudamel informed that on Tuesday he also attended the Andrés Eloy Blanco Educational Unit in the capital of the State of Sucre, where he delivered musical instruments and could see the progress of children and youth.
"This fills me with great pride and for more commitment, as with my colleagues and Master José Antonio Abreu, who still dreams of all this. Here we are, still playing, singing and fighting, and we will continue with all our love," said Dudamel.
President Maduro, meanwhile, recognized the work over the past 40 years of the National System of Youth and Children Orchestras of Venezuela, launched by its founder, Master José Antonio Abreu, who "we will always appreciate for the miracle that he has done for our youth."
