A new social media campaign demanding President Barack Obama repeal sanctions on Venezuela is trending globally. Thousands of protesters took to social media Friday to demand President Barack Obama rescind a controversial executive order labeling Venezuela a national security threat.

Ottawa. March 16, 2015. The Embassy of Venezuela in Canada promoted a first meeting with the alternative media in the region of Ontario in an effort to counter the negative view of Venezuela, and publicize what is really happening in the country following the recent classification as a "threat" by the Government of the United States, even though Venezuela has been characterized as a peaceful people and promoter of freedom on the continent.

Freedom and Independence

More than two centuries ago, our fathers founded a Republic on the basis that all persons are free and equal under the law.

Our nation made the greatest sacrifices to guarantee South American people their right to choose their rulers and to enforce their own laws today. The historical legacy of our father, Simón Bolívar, is always remembered. Bolívar was a man who gave his life so we would inherit a nation of justice and equality.

Ottawa, March 12, /2015. In the city of Ottawa, Canada's capital, at least 50 representatives of different groups of solidarity with Venezuela and Canadian organizations that defend human rights, rallied in defense of Venezuela, democracy and sovereignty; and against US interference that has recently attacked the Bolivarian nation.

STATEMENT

Ottawa, March 11, 2015. -The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Canada, in support of the constitutionally elected and worker’s President Nicolás Maduro Moros, in support of our democracy and independence, and in defense of the sovereign and heroic Venezuelan people; and in order to exalt the Bolivarian principles of justice, peace, peoples’ self-determination and non-interference in the internal affairs of States, wants to announce that Venezuela has again been victim of the new interventionist outrage from the Government of United States of America, through the executive order signed at the White House, on March 9^th 2015, in which our country is seen "As a threat to national security and foreign policy of the United States". At the same time, they are imposing new sanctions on Venezuelan citizens; this is a serious and unprecedented action that undermines freedom, democracy, sovereignty, and the principles of non-intervention in the internal affairs and fundamentally attacks the dignity of Venezuelan people, with the purpose of overthrowing the legitimately-elected Government of Nicolás Maduro.

Ottawa, 11 Marzo de 2015. - La Embajada de la República Bolivariana de Venezuela en Canadá, en apoyo del  Presidente obrero, constitucional y democráticamente electo Nicolás Maduro Moros, en apoyo a nuestra democracia, nuestra independencia y en defensa del soberano y heroico  pueblo venezolano; y en aras de enaltecer los principios Bolivarianos de justicia, paz, autodeterminación de los pueblos y la no injerencia en los asuntos internos de los Estados, queremos denunciar el nuevo atropello injerencista del que hemos sido víctima por parte del Gobierno de los  Estados Unidos de Norte América, a través de la orden ejecutiva firmada en la Casa Blanca, el 09 de marzo de 2015, en donde considera a nuestro país “Una amenaza a la seguridad nacional y a la política exterior de los Estados Unidos”; Al mismo tiempo que impone nuevas sanciones a los ciudadanos venezolanos, es una acción de gravedad y sin precedente;  que atenta contra la libertad, la democracia, la soberanía, los principios de no intervención en los asuntos internos  y fundamentalmente contra la dignidad del pueblo venezolano, en el afán de derrocar al Gobierno legítimamente electo de Nicolás Maduro.
