Venezuelan people and government commemorate the 50th anniversary of the sowing of the heroic Che Guevara

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Venezuelan people and government commemorates 50 years of the date when we bid farewell to Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, Heroic Guerrilla and Eternal Commander of the Our America Revolution, Che Guevara, who was killed on October 9th, 1967 by the CIA in La Higuera area – Bolivia.

The peoples of America and the world remember that the U.S. criminal and interventionist hand was which took the life of one of the history’s greatest revolutionary, thus intending to halt the march of the peoples towards freedom, independence and justice.

Once more, U.S. imperialism made a mistake. Che Guevara became – through his death – an immortal hero of the peoples and his loving sacrifice sprouted in the seeds of the change processes which are marching all over our continent today.

Physician, writer, politician, leader, worker and guerrilla. Ernesto Guevara was always at the forefront in the combat and work, studies and thinking, love and joy. His life set the example for the youth who dreams with a world where the justice prevails.

Today we pay tribute to his memory and gigantic humanity as well as the hope that born from his life and spread in his beloved Cuban and Latin American and Caribbean people. Che Guevara remains alive and fighting wherever injustice and oppression persist.

Today, 50 years after his premature departure, we join the singer Carlos Puebla to say “we learned to love you, since, at the historical height, your selfless bravery, encircled the death.” You are here, Che Guevara, along with the Venezuelan people making a revolution and building dreams.

“Towards victory always, Commander”

Ernesto Che Guevara
