The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Venezuelan people, commemorates along with the Guatemalan people, the 118th anniversary of the birth of the illustrious and outstanding exponent of Latin American literature, Miguel Angel Asturias – Guatemalan poet, narrator, playwright, journalist and diplomat – who was awarded with the Lenin Peace Prize of the former Soviet Union in 1966 and with the Nobel Prize for literature in 1967.
Today, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Miguel Angel Asturias, honors his memory and expresses its admiration for the commitment with which the author exalted the roots of the Central American and Our American indigenous people, immortalizing them in countless world-renowned masterpieces.
