STATEMENT
With a great participation and popular protagonism
the Bolivarian Revolution continues its march
Venezuela has once again shown its adherence to the model of participatory and protagonist democracy being built daily in a framework of peace while successfully holding the recent municipal elections on December 10, 2017.
The Hugo Chávez Peoples Defense Front, Southwest Chapter of Canada (HCPDF-SW, Vancouver, BC), sends solidarity congratulations to all Venezuelans for the exemplary civic exercise of their right to direct, universal and secret vote, under an electoral system considered among the most modern and secure in the world, thanks to an Electoral Power that you have built on your own.
With this, Venezuela has had the 24th election in the 18 years of Chavismo, this time to select 335 mayors, as well as the governorship of Zulia state.
More than 9 million 200 thousand people voted representing 47.3% of the total electoral roll. Among the candidates proposed by the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) and the Great Patriotic Pole (GPP), revolutionary men and women were elected in 308 mayorships, plus the governorship of the state of Zulia.
The results leave no room for doubt: the Bolivarian Revolution marches forward with great participation, protagonism and popular acceptance.
The HCPDF-SW considers the elections reliable and transparent as they were witnessed by an International Electoral Accompaniment mission of 50 members of the Council of Electoral Experts of Latin America (CEELA), and others like academics, social communicators, and mayors of other nations.
In addition, the HCPDF-SW agrees with the Venezuelan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jorge Arreaza, in that the unfounded criticisms by the US Department of State "denote the impotence and despair of the supremacist government of Donald Trump before the repeated victories of democracy and the Bolivarian people of Venezuela."
Along with our congratulations for the electoral victory, but mainly for the demonstration of the Venezuelan democratic process, we reiterate our solidarity with the government of the worker president, Nicolás Maduro Moros, and with the sovereign National Constituent Assembly led by compañera Delcy Rodríguez Gómez.
