With a great participation and popular protagonism
the Bolivarian Revolution continues its march
Venezuela has once again shown its adherence to the model of participatory and protagonist democracy being built daily in a framework of peace while successfully holding the recent municipal elections on December 10, 2017.
The ILPS CANADA condemns in the strongest terms possible the Trudeau governments ongoing pandering to US imperialism in Venezuela. The Canadian Government has clearly illustrated over the past several months, in over a dozen statements, actions at the Organization of American States (OAS) and leadership in the “Lima Group”, that it is intent on supporting US efforts to undermine the democratically-elected government in Venezuela.
The governing party of Venezuela, the PSUV (United Socialist Party of Venezuela), has recently obtained a resounding electoral victory for State governorship. The election was called by the CNE (National Electoral Council) at the instance of the ANC (National Constituent Assembly). Soon after, the opposition group MUD (Democratic Unity Coalition) seemed to be in disarray. Enrique Capriles of Primero Justicia (Justice First) party, for example, resigned from the MUD coalition questioning Henry Ramos Allup of the AD (Democratic Action) party who in turn expelled the four AD governors who dared to be sworn-in in front of the ANC in acceptance of the election results.
Regional Elections took place in Venezuela on October 15, 2017 and the turnout was an unprecedented 61.14% of the 18,094,065 registered voters participating – over 11 million Venezuelans exercised their right vote.

The government of Canada aims at regime change in Venezuela in political alignment with the US Trump administration. Canada and Venezuela have shared unbroken diplomatic relations since February 1948, but they have never been at the current lowest point. Last October 19, Jorge Arreaza, Venezuelan minister of foreign affairs served the Canadian charge d’affaires, Craig Kowalik, a formal diplomatic protest note “for the persistent and systematic interference in the internal affairs of Venezuela.”
The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Venezuelan people, commemorates along with the Guatemalan people, the 118th anniversary of the birth of the illustrious and outstanding exponent of Latin American literature, Miguel Angel Asturias – Guatemalan poet, narrator, playwright, journalist and diplomat – who was awarded with the Lenin Peace Prize of the former Soviet Union in 1966 and with the Nobel Prize for literature in 1967.
The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, on behalf of the Venezuelan people and government commemorates 50 years of the date when we bid farewell to Ernesto Guevara de la Serna, Heroic Guerrilla and Eternal Commander of the Our America Revolution, Che Guevara, who was killed on October 9th, 1967 by the CIA in La Higuera area – Bolivia.
