Government officials have spoken out against two recent acts of opposition violence and have appealed for calm.

In two separate incidents, supporters of the right-wing opposition engaged in acts of violence on Wednesday, in one case mistakenly attacking a young person they believed to be a government supporter.

The Venezuelan president said these groups’ objectives are to create chaos and violence. 

Colombian paramilitaries dressed as civilians are trying to create chaos and violence to destabilize Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro explained at a rally Wednesday.

He assured that justice will prevail and defend the country from any destabilization attempt.
